UNIVERSITE DE LORRAINE
20.11.2025
De 09h00 à 14h00
Maison Irène & Frédéric Joliot-Curie (Rue du Trône 100 2ème étage, 1050 - BRUXELLES, Belgique)
The University of Lorraine (UL) is organising this workshop to create a platform for European actors involved in SSH to partake in the repositioning, and in proactively suggesting a shared vision for the future. For this, we work on bringing together stakeholders from the European institutions, from research and innovation, and from higher education.
Context:
The European political landscape is changing, and research is
reclaiming its position in it. With current discussion topics
revolving around competitiveness, valorisation, resilience,
sovereignty, and societal change, research in the social sciences
and humanities (SSH) repositions itself as well.
The European research framework programs 8 and 9 (Horizon 2020 and
Horizon Europe) have created an initial platform for a strategic
integration of SSH research, and this event aims at demonstrating
why this development was essential and must be continued in the
upcoming framework program. SSH research is not only an auxiliary
tool in interdisciplinary research, but ultimately shapes our
European society, helps defining its values, and creates a basis
for all the intersections between research, innovation, society,
politics, and industry.
