Europe is currently facing one of the most pressing challenges, the low level of generational renewal in agriculture: in 2020, only 6% of the farm managers were under 35, while 57% were over 55. This will have a direct impact on the future of farming, and therefore on Europe's food, economic, environmental and social resilience. Whereas the European Union starts preparing the next CAP and a new Strategy for generation renewal in agriculture, European research invites us to look at the problem from an even broader perspective. The conference will bring together European leaders from academic research, stakeholders and EU policy-makers, in order to shed a new light on this pressing issue and go beyond the generation renewal in agriculture. This will also complement the Strategic Dialogue on the Future of EU Agriculture, bringing a scientific perspective to stakeholder discussions.
